The latest figures from Royal London’s “State of the Protection Nation” report, showed that 42% of people with a mortgage have NO life cover in place.
Additionally, 71% of people with a mortgage have no critical illness protection and 81% have no income protection in place.
These figures also apply to working renters, who also have little or no protection. Whether you have a mortgage or are renting, having cover to protect you if you are off work through illness or accident is vital to protect your home and lifestyle.
The main reason for people not having any cover is because premiums are thought to be too expensive, according to 69% of the people surveyed. But, you should ask yourself – if you can’t afford your mortgage or rent without the added cost of protection then perhaps you should consider a lower mortgage or rent, which you could protect, otherwise you risk losing your home.
