Research by The International Longevity Centre, has shown that over the long term, clients who use a Financial Advisor are on average £40,000 better off than those who don’t use an adviser.
The long-term study looked at investment returns over a period from 2001 to 2014 and compared the returns made by different types of investors. The research also showed that the biggest benefits were seen by the less affluent clients who hadn’t used financial advisers in the past.
Other shorter-term surveys in the past have shown that clients assets can grow by up to 160% more when they are managed by a Financial Adviser, but this is the first long term survey to actually put an average figure on what using an Advisor is worth.
Given this evidence, it’s difficult to understand why less than 10% of people use IFAs, especially when it’s also reported that over 90% of people say that they think they would benefit from some help with their finances.
