Christina and Phil Clegg presented a £2,000 cheque to charity Open Door Furniture Recycling on Wednesday 18th September. The cheque was raised by Christina and Phil in their capacity as Lady Captain and Captain of Burnley Golf Club in 2019. Members of the Golf Club have supported a number of fund raising events throughout the year and Christina and Phil are delighted to have reached their target of £2000 so early in the year, with more expected to come.
Open Door needed the money now to support their move into new premises at St Mary’s church on Manchester Road in Nelson, which will be completed by the end of September. Mark Clegg, Phil’s brother was delighted to receive the cheque which is perfect timing for the charity. Open Door provide a fantastic service to residents in the local area, distributing furniture, household goods and appliances to disadvantaged families, whilst also providing work experience for the long term unemployed and helping to reduce the amount of waste going into landfill.
