Unfortunately, when you die, even when you have made a Will, your Executor will need to get a Grant of Probate.
If you have elected for a solicitor, or other professional to be an Executor in your Will, they will often charge you a percentage of your estate. This can be very expensive often up to 3% of your estates value – so for example a £300,000 estate could incur around £9000 in Probate costs. Or, they may charge you an hourly rate, which can often be over £200 an hour, plus VAT.
You do not need a solicitor to act for you to get a Grant of Probate. We have acted for many clients to provide this service.
We will agree with you in advance the hourly rate we will charge for this service, or we may agree to undertake the service on a Fixed Fee basis. Whichever way we agree to work it will almost certainly be at a much lower cost than a solicitor would charge for providing the same service.
The other advantage of using our services is that having provided you with regular advice as your IFA, we will already have an intimate knowledge of your financial circumstances and have built a relationship with you over time which means we will probably have to spend much less time than a solicitor would to provide you with the necessary services.
